He Felt This Schism, Really He Did

Not many a man has lived out
a self within a self
A three-selved man
Whose existence alone
Is inspiring
Slightly.

5 Windward-Redux

Almost ten years after my family rented the beach house at 5 Windward Walk, Davis Park (an annual event that lasted for three straight full seasons), I returned to it for a relaxing weekend, on a stroke of dumb luck:

I suppose it's not really supposed to be called a 'weekend'--the adventures took place between a Sunday night and a Tuesday morning. This was to be a dismissal from the mainland, a short break from all the recording sessions as of late (which themselves included many breaks). Beautiful weather on a beautiful barrier island, in a summer beach community with almost no off-season residents. My companions and I had plenty of beer, bagel chips, blankets, walking sticks, glue sticks, guitar picks, pens, plant life, markers, construction paper, radio waves, and free time. Among the activities in which we indulged:

Stalking the beach after sundown

Drinking lots of tea

Hugging, catching and releasing snakes
(just for the thrill), calling out to the birds

General relaxation

An isolated, no-cars-allowed island in the autumn season is definitely a pristine getaway.

Mary the Navy Nurse

Mary's got a brace on her wrist
she said she'd seen worse
as she reaches and pulls some change
from her purse
she'd been a Navy Nurse.

She's been to Germany
and she helped out at Wounded Knee
Now she's retired
with a family
and grandkid's grandkids

Mary's never won the lotto
but it's been okay
as she nibbles biscotti
and waves me away
as I fear the worst:
she'd been a Navy Nurse.

Mary met Ponce de Leon
and Mary was never alone
a toast to the gents
who manifested west
where they wallowed and moaned
She's been to Germany
and she helped out at Wounded Knee
now she's retired
with a family
and grandkid's grandkids

Each of whom will never know her story
none of whom will ever know her tale
the history books won't let us read
the history books forever fail
yet history can't lie, so Mary prevails!!!

Mary's got a brace on her wrist
she said she'd seen worse
as she reaches and pulls some change
from her purse
she'd been a Navy Nurse.

Ideals

For a Better Understanding of the Bigger Picture (not the religious Picture, but the natural Picture)--an individual's placement in nature (not class)--these are Things to keep in Mind:

  • Travel far, if not frequently.
  • Always retain your sense of smell. You couldn't love if it were to be relinquished.
  • Don't mess with gravity, but question why objects may slip out of your hands.
  • Any person on Earth can hum a melody if you request it of them. This is instinctual.
  • Deja vu, karma, and empathy will all be very important some day.

4:26 am-Upright piano workshop

My family went away this weekend, allowing me to play the living room piano at all hours of the night and day.

This is a 0:53-second clip of the beginning of a work in a progress that really doesn't have any sort of title. Or focus.

We try to evolve the simple things, yet it's a mystery to us all. So put on your spectacles and sing, and celebrate the coming fall. Celebrate the coming season with me! If you don't, I'll be on a boat to sea(see) you.

More work to follow.
